Yes I’m a fan of Tomb Raider, but once again I have loved my time with Lara in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. If you’re in my camp, and enjoyed the first two games of this rebooted franchise, then I would highly recommend this experience. In fact, it is the best of the three in terms of of tomb exploration, puzzle interactions, deep storytelling, and action.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is definitely darker than its predecessor but that doesn't hurt its awe-inspiring setting, fun stealthy combat, oodles of rewarding collectibles, and suspenseful action that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the perfect conclusion for Lara's origin trilogy. It tells a compelling story about her past, a conspiracy and the Maya apocalypse, offering a whole new world to explore, with jungles, villages, new and lethal tombs and plenty of secondary missions.
  4. On the subject of breathtaking scenery, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a showcase for what an Xbox One can do.

Lara Croft still does not make the most coherent decisions (let alone the wisest ones), but at last she shows a bit of that vulnerability that they had shown us, hand in hand with their more visceral aspect.

Better-crafted platforms and Tombs built around more interesting puzzles, the title unfortunately loses a slight foothold when it comes to telling its story or fully immersing the player.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is basically the same game as Rise of theTomb Raider, but in a new environment. This time Lara finds her self in the Peruvian jungle – and it looks absolutely stunning. Unfortunately the graphics are about the only thing new in this game and we wish the gameplay would have been improved as well. But despite it's shortcomings, Shadow of the Tomb Raider has a great entertainment. value.

The environments are gigantic, you actually feel like you could get lost in the jungle. Every tree has an animal attached to it, there's so much life in the jungle and it looks amazing, the graphics unlike anything else on Xbox One X. The tombs are epic and beautiful, I took about 50 screenshots over the course of the campaign. I completed the game in one day, I didn't want to stop playing and I already want to start over again which I will do tonight. Seeing is believing 9.5/10 Expand

Alot of people will also probably be upset that the combat was both toned down a ton, with the emphasis on stealth, and alot of it was cut from the previous game. I'm more upset that literally nothing new was added to the gameplay. It's the same stuff from the previous two games, with almost literally nothing new added to it. I'm severely disappointed with Crystal Dynamics that they didn't add at least something new like a new weapon or new mechanic. It's an extreme let down.
The story is ok, even if there are a few plot holes here and there. Basically if you've come this far with the new reboot, you almost have to finish the story up. Even if it's not the best story to begin with. The main draw to playing this game are the challenge tombs as they are easily the most refreshing part of the game. The puzzles are very well done and the environments in the puzzles are about as different as the game gets since its all set in central and south america. It got to the point with me that I only played to get from tomb to tomb and slogged my way through everything else. Its a shame too because I thought a couple of amazing performances by both Lara's and Jonah's actors were a bit wasted by the setting and the story in general.
I don't know where Tomb Raider is going to go from here. I personally feel like its time for Crystal Dynamics to move on from the franchise. However, no matter who is in charge for the new game in the series, it needs a drastic refresh in terms of gameplay. They pushed this system as far as it would go, maybe even a little to far with this game. They've rebooted her story now they need to reboot her gameplay mechanics.

The level design isA terrible follow up to Rise of the Tomb Raider that forgets every lesson that game learned from the original reboot. The level design is boring and dull, the game keeps interrupting with cutscenes at the worst times, controls are sluggish (that one is baffling, why didn't they just keep the controls from Rise?) and the art direction is all over the place as if several parts of the same levels had been contracted out to different people without any design guidelines. It honestly feels like Core got their B-team making this, it's the Andromeda of the Tomb Raider series. Expand
