Overall, WWE 2K19 is an evolutionary step forward for the series – but a big one. The return of the showcase mode offers up a lot to enjoy for fans of Daniel Bryan while the MyCareer mode brings things back that worked before – but tells a far better narrative than most. The debuting 2K Towers offer an ever-present challenge and are sure to make even seasoned players wince a time or two, and the revamped gameplay for things like striking and cage-related modes allows for more realistic matches than prior entries across the board.

It is a massive improvement for the series, with plenty of great modes to choose from, along with so many great wrestlers past and present to wrestle with. It finally feels like things are looking up for WWE 2K.

Key improvements across the board result in a significant upgrade over last year's entry. [Issue#336, p.70]

WWE 2K19 suffers from the same problems the WWE product does as a whole: a failure to move forward. The game is great and makes some very notable improvements, especially in MyPlayer and Showcase modes, but it also refuses to move beyond the dated engine that limits actual gameplay innovation.

Loaded with content, WWE 2K19 still bears some of the previous games’ flaws, such as its out-dated visual and irritating micro-transactions. But there’s too much to do, too much to enjoy for all wrestling fans.

WWE 2K19 might not reach the lofty heights of wrestling video gaming's heyday--or maybe that's just the nostalgia talking--but it's 2K's best effort so far. Maybe next year we'll be on to a true title contender.

WWE 2K19 struggles to meet expectations. It’s a mid-card talent with potential, but is too set in its ways to leave any lasting impact.

Everything is improved here, from the flow of the match and variety of match types to the return of Showcase mode and a mycareer mode with an actual story!

Unlike past entries, this mycareer mode ditches the nightmare that is playing random meaningless matches non stop with barely any story lines, and introduces us to a fully voiced and original story about your created "MyPlayer" character going from a living in a van indies star to the top of the WWE ladder. Showcase mode is finally back as well, and focuses this time on the career of Daniel Bryan, filled with introductions by the man himself. Towers mode is an interested addition too and can really put your skills to the test.

Although the game is not perfect (commentary still has its issues and there are still bugs that needs to be fixed), I think it is enough of an improvement to take notice of and makes things seem much more brighter for the WWE 2k series going forward.

Now this game is far from perfectI am beginning to believe that no matter what 2K does, they will be overly critical of WWE wrestling games. Now this game is far from perfect but if you have played this franchise for years, you will notice the number of strides it has made. The main improvement is the gameplay. Its just so much more fast paced and fluid. It is now a fun game on top of being more simulation. The graphics have improved as well. Although they could be better, I feel like each wrestler is definitely more detailed and now resemble their real life counterparts. If you are a fan of WWE and you liked previous installments of this series, you will love WWE 2k19 because its the best one to date. Expand

Happy to see the new and improved career mode. While I've only played a little it doesn't seem like it's that boring NXT match after NXT match to hopefully make it to the main roster. Every match and interaction with other superstars seem to serve a purpose. There are some cheesy moments during it but it's still good. Don't like how you really don't have any control over your characters moveset or entrance at the start. They give you a few but not enough.

Hope to see a patch to improve the menus. The very white menu screens aren't nice to look at, and in the creation modes it's hard to tell what option you have selected.

It's worth the pick up. If your not a hardcore WWE fan then wait until the Black Friday sales.

This game sucks, I always played the WWE games because of the Custom Wrestlers and the story/career mode and i havent played a good wwe gameThis game sucks, I always played the WWE games because of the Custom Wrestlers and the story/career mode and i havent played a good wwe game since wwe 2010. Since 2k acquired the game the character creation sucks, i don't some 8 or 10 options to choose for the body part rather i want the old style size sliders. I am waiting for the good wwe game and i think i have to forget about getting one.
If i wanna play with the original wrestlers then i just go watch a WWE on TV, Career's story better than the previous 2k wwe games but still sucks. I just wish they have never got the wwe games' license from THQ. THQ's last few games were not good but still better these 2k on's crap. I bought the game this morning and just got back from returning about half an hour ago, that shows how bad the game sucks for me. And guys down giving it a 10 need to have checked from the brain doctor. At max its a 6.5 game.

I've played this after 3 days after buying it and I'm mentally drained and find it hard to launch the game from lack of motivation. NoI've played this after 3 days after buying it and I'm mentally drained and find it hard to launch the game from lack of motivation. No surprise critics are given it an overall mediocre score. Royal Rumble should be fun but its tedious and unfair, esp. on legend. Showcase on Legend was so frustrating with the fun sucked out of it, 2k tower mode, good idea but poor execution, its too stressful and pointless when you get to the final match, eg as roussy you must win by submission then meet steph mac in cage match where she has a finisher at the start, used it, then climbs cage and wins in under 2 mins. and the game expects you to grind back to the start and win 4 matches to try it again, eg 2 C. Flair must submit Paige where Paige will use payback about 7 times to escape your submissions, which I eventually won after 25 mins eg 3 beat Undertaker in 5 mins by pin or submission no foreign weapons (DQ) but he was counted out and I progressed?. Payback benefits the AI more than it does you especially in Legend. Elimination Chamber use to be my favourite match type, but now its too stressful with Payback and even when I play without. Warning!!!!! This game is not improving enough to be an entertaining simulation, especially non-children and non-wrestling fanatics and gamers who don't have someone competitive on their level of skill to play with. After 3 weeks, had to trade it in. The franchise seems dead to me and don't think if I would buy another for a long while. Expand
