If you are more of a single player gamer like me, don’t let the online nature of Fallout 76 put you off… it’s eminently playable as a single player experience. If you are put off by the issues mentioned at the start then maybe steer clear (or at least wait to see if patches address your concerns), otherwise I’d say grab the Deathclaw by the horns and jump in (but maybe wait till you have powerarmour to do that.).

Fallout 76 isn't the best Fallout ever, but it turns out to be an interesting experiment, able to grow and thrive with time, despite an unjustifiable technical aspect.

Ultimately the big change, and kind of the whole purpose for F76, is the multiplayer component, and how that plays out is going to depend a lot on the community, a quantity that I believe is still very much to be determined.

In an effort to do everything, Fallout 76 fails to do any of it well enough to form an identity. Its multiplayer mindset robs its quests of all the moral decisionmaking that makes the series great, and all that’s left is a buggy mess of systemic designs that never seems to work together and regularly contradicts itself.

Fallout 76 meant to change the very concept of the series, but turned out to be a complete disaster. The game is not only boring and empty, but sometimes simply unplayable.

Fallout 76 could have been appealing. With its massive open-world, rewarding exploration and some interesting quests, it fails to be a good game because of too many game-design mistakes and technical issues.

I dreaded every hour I had to keep playing Fallout 76 for review. As soon as the game was beginning to teeter on fun or interesting, a bug or a frustrating gameplay design element would quickly remind me that the game was otherwise.

Currently, the game has some storage issues, if you are a hoarder, or want to save that special Power Armor pieces until you can use them. That is simply imposable, however, it has already been announced they will change that in one of the coming patches.

As it is now I feel positive for the future, but let us see what happens.

if you can see past butthurt kids giving this game zeros and circlejerking each other because they couldn't handle change, you'll see a funif you can see past butthurt kids giving this game zeros and circlejerking each other because they couldn't handle change, you'll see a fun game in Fallout universe to play with friends. Surprisingly, Bethesda actually listens to players this time and adds new features with updates, like FoV slider and push to talk. There are, of course, the downsides like bad optimization and weak storyline, but this game isn't about storyline - the experience is completely different from previous Fallouts. So, if you have a team to play it with, get it on sale and have fun. Expand

It feels like Bethesda have been terrified of alienating any portion of the market by making something revolutionary and as such have really created nothing new or interesting. The game lacks a heart and soul, decisions don't seem to matter and progression either makes no sense or isn't challenging enough to feel worthwhile. Games, like life, require loss and struggle to feel rewarding, neither are found here. Expand

Bethesda areA game that clearly demonstrates the decision makers at Bethesda / Zenimax have no idea why people love their existing games. Bethesda are world builders who excel at making deep immersing lore and spaces for storytelling, these principles are entirely incompatible with an open MMO experience which obscures lore, storytelling and immersion behind a wall of idiots shouting into their microphones and jumping around in circles. Far from a relaxing or engaging experience I find the game frustrating and shallow. Expand
