Amy was a kidThis series was a waste of time. The acting was okay the production values were the only thing that allowed me to rate it a 3. Amy was a kid that should have grown up but she didn't. Instead they had a grown woman play her all the way through. I also thought that many of the things that made the girls different were not emphasized enough. They all seemed to be the same person with no real differences at all. Most of the important events were not well expressed or were omitted entirely. So yes, this series was a complete fail and I do not recommend it.… Expand

Julianna Margulies has surprised meI watched the first two episodes and they were so much fun. Joy Nash and Tamara Tunie are especially good. Julianna Margulies has surprised me the most as I had no idea she could be so funny. I have to say that I am so happy to see Debra Monk in her role as Plum's mother. I loved Debra in Nero Wolfe and although her role here is small, she is excellent as always. I am happy with the acting so far and the production values are also very good. I think that this is a show that people will either love or hate. Those who love the show can and will see it for what it is; a satire that pokes at patriarchy and its values. If you enjoy satire, give this one a go. I highly recommend it.… Expand

I must admit that it was difficult going for the first threeI enjoyed this series but I did not read the book that the show is based on. I must admit that it was difficult going for the first three episodes because there were certain things that were not revealed until episode 4 and then other things that were better explained in episode 7. I do not want to spoil it for you, please watch and be patient. I thought the casting choice for Kristin Ortega was a miss. I didn't like the character at all and by episode 4, I understood her better but as an actress she's not very good. I thought Miriam Bancroft looked exactly like Courtney Love (kinda gross, I know). Miriam is played by Kristin Lehman and she did an okay job. There were a few characters that were outstanding; Matt Biedel was amazing as was Chris Conner. Joel Kinnaman and James Purefoy carried their characters quite nicely. Hayley Law was an excellent choice to play Lizzie Elliot. I enjoyed Waleed Zuaiter's performance and Dichen Lachmen was so good as Reileen Kawahara . There were many others that stood out but this is just off the top of my head. The special effects were very well done and I recognized a few places from around here in Vancouver, BC. A few things to know... There is nudity and some sex. It's not crazy over the top sex, but it is there. There is blood and violence as well so be prepared. The ending was well done and they could do another series if they wanted but this story wrapped up very well indeed. I gave it an 8 out of 10 because of the strength of the acting was not always evident and I feel like they cheaped-out on the music.… Expand

The story is nothing you haven't seen beforeI have just finished this series and I was hoping for more, or rather, I wanted it to be better. The story is nothing you haven't seen before so there are no surprises. You see everything coming and you know, or at least have an idea of what's coming next as far as the story goes.
The acting is fine although I thought that Harry Treadaway did an outstanding job as Brady Hartsfield, and Brendan Gleeson was very good as Bill Hodges. In fact there were so many amazing actors, I wondered why it wasn't better. Right, the script. Actors can only do what they can with the script they are given [heavy sigh].
This is a slow moving series and to be perfectly honest it could have been done in six-episodes rather than the 10-episodes we were given. The music was excellent and got to hear stuff I haven't heard in a long time. In fact, I can say that the music helped with the lousy editing and camera-work.
If you are into gore, incest, and like things moving at a slow, leisurely pace this may be for you.… Expand

I like the cast and was especially looking forward to seeing Anna Torv in her role as a psychologist. To me it seemed like Jonathan Groff was an odd choice for this particular lead as Holden Ford, but he's done well and his character comes across as sympathetic and kind, as well as a bit naive. I am especially enjoying Holt McCallany in his role as agent/teacher. Cameron Britton is outstanding as Ed Kemper, the co-ed killer.
The story is unwinding at a slow enough pace. It's not all cops and killers, as there's more happening on the sidelines. We get to know more about Holden, the way he thinks, and what he's up against.
There's nakedness and sex in this show. It's not a problem though, you can always fast forward through the bits you don't like. You also get to see more than a few gory pictures and scenes of violence. There's cussing as well but I wasn't bothered by it.
In all it's a solid 7 and if it turns bad, I'll come back and edit...

I was disappointed that there was no chemistry between Acker and Moyer but I set that aside hoping by episode 2 things would improve. They didn't.
The acting on the whole is fine and everyone is either lovely to look at or they are part monster. I am reminded of Heroes, only this series is not as slick as Heroes. The story is predictable and before the end of episode 2, I had decided that I would not be spending anymore time with this series. I want something clever and new. I am not interested in a rehash of what I've already seen.… Expand

I kept waiting for it to get better and you know, it didn't. I didn't buy The Guilty Remnant, the whole idea seemed really stupid. Everyone was sad and depressed because 2% of the population just up and vanished. I sat thru the whole first season and geezus it was the most exhausting TV I've ever watched. I kept waiting for an answer and never got it.… Expand

The plot is something we've all seen before so there's nothing new here. The production values are decent, the acting is very good, and the story is more than a bit stupid. There were many times when I could not believe that the protagonist or the police were that idiotic. I would yell at the screen in frustration, but it never helped. I'm very happy it was only 3 episodes long and, I will not be watching season 2.… Expand

The visuals are spectacular. The acting is right up there with the best of shows. I honestly thought that I'd learn something about Elizabeth but, I didn't. It seems to me, to be such a huge waste of money because we're not told anything new about her. It's as though they went through every single gossip column and pasted together a story. I was bored and reminded of how silly it is that we still have a royal family.… Expand
