Despite the ridiculous storytelling and two-dimensional characterizations that are flatter than a flounder, what really sinks Siren is that tonally, it’s neither fish nor fowl. It has no self-awareness of what it wants to be, but there are glimmers of what it could be: a horror series that plays upon people’s paranoia of deep water, a maritime action series, a morality tale about what it means to be humane, a tragic and/or sexy interspecies love story, or a soap with heightened emotions that carry it into the realm of juicy Douglas Sirk-ian melodrama.

When all is said and done---don't miss this one (Read the Rotten Tomatoes reviews also) Expand

Okay. I want to start by saying, those who commented on the evil government/army plot...Just wow. That is part of what makes this show moreOkay. I want to start by saying, those who commented on the evil government/army plot...Just wow. That is part of what makes this show more believable. Since when does the government not use cover-ups to hide things from us? I think it's awesome that the producers were brave enough to start a show about mermaids. About the unknown in the ocean. I also think they did an excellent job of how the mermaids look in the water. It's more realistic and less glam. They didn't cover the females top halves with shells and just give them fish tails. (Wishing I could insert a side-eye emoji here). Ryn's curiosity was on point. Excellent choice of casting there btw. The myth of mermaids was never really explored in such a detailed way on t.v. or movies, that I am aware of. I am hooked and looking forward to season 2. Look, I didn't care for shows about zombies either. Now, I am a hard core Walking Dead fan. Siren has started well and left me wanting more. I think this show has major potential. 4.8 Million viewers must think so too. Expand

It actually has clumsy pilot - like most of the shows. It's clear that directors are researching target. Someone wanted to create dark and a little bit horror story but it was spoiled by teendrama trends. I'm giving it 8/10 because of it's potential. It really reminds me of The 100 where first season was also full of teendrama stuff. I would really like to see second one for Siren. Expand

I think the sirens are well portrayed, but everything else is just amateur! Except from that siren girl, the cast is totally bland and the acting is something out of Sharknado movies (trust me, it is that bad).

The characters are cardboard cut-outs, and good looking actors and actresses don't sell a show if their characters are about as appealing as an STD! Don't see a second season getting on the story board let alone on the screen. Expand
