Jun 6, 2018ye really does what a self-titled album should do: it says “Hey, this is who I am.” Even at 23 minutes, it almost feels like two different albums: an aggressive, dissonant one, and an empathetic, soulful one. Yet, those aren’t the two sides of Kanye, because those things exist in him simultaneously, all the time.
Jun 4, 2018Despite its sometimes grating protagonist, ye is a pleasant enough way to pass half an hour. Seven tracks is long enough to develop an idea without wearing it out. The production is typically lush. Kanye has returned to the kinds of soul samples that made him famous to begin with.
Jun 4, 2018Over a brief seven tracks, the 40-year-old superstar confirms his production prowess, veering between sparse, hyper-modern styles and compositions which hark back to the soulful bent of the producer-turned-rapper’s early career; a volatile mix of the sweet and the acrid, the sentimental and the tendentious.
Jun 6, 2018Ye doesn’t feel like that reinvention. If anything, this album feels safe, a word I imagine is insulting to the artist. ... However, Kanye has an incredible ear for production, more apparent on Pusha T’s DAYTONA. There are some excellent moments on Ye, but with only twenty-four minutes of music, some doesn’t cut it.
Jun 12, 2018His verses mostly feel redundant, hastily thrown together to validate the presence of these songs on his project, and while the album has been described as introspective this very brief release only allows for skindeep thoughts on any one topic. The Kanye West show has already rolled on, but some of the magic of yesteryear has been left behind.

From the haunting opening track to the masterfully constructed Ghost Town, this is far and away the best album of the year thus far. He is able to say everything he needs to in the 7 tracks and is perhaps the most intimate, vulnerable Ye we have ever seen. Even more so than 808s and it works brilliantly in this case.… Expand

Every track is interesting and I just wanted to hear more, after I finished this album I just listened to it again. You can tell Kanye is not happy from hearing this album, even if he has an ego he does critize himself.
I don't like Kanye as a person but I do love him as an artist, he's my favorite rapper and I hope he makes another album soon.… Expand

It starts off with a very strong track called "I Thought About Killing You" this track is very beautiful and it helps us understand his bi-polar and him as a person more. The beat changes which changes the mood of the song to an upbeat trap type song. That is an example of bipolar.
Also, I don't think the replay value for this album is high. I think the tracks are well-produced but also felt like it was rushed at the same time. The production for Pusha T's album is so much better than this album. I feel like his work harder on producing his other artist albums rather than his own. I do enjoy the risk that he took on some of the songs.
The other tracks on the album are filled with strong and funny moments. I think the best tracks on this album are the opening and closing tracks. Also, the track with Kid Cudi gives us a sample on how the album Kid See Ghost will sound. Looking forward to listening to more tracks produced by Kanye. I think the album is well-written but also felt like some moments on this album is so cringy. Some of the lines are so wack while the other is strong. This is a hard project to review because I am still confused about it. It's well-produced but it's not his best, it's probably his worst.
I think the real highlight of this album is 070 Shake. She needs a full-length album because she's amazing.
