She went through delays, cancellations, humiliation and much more, which all reflect in the darkest side of the album. In spite of this, it's surprising how the album has more brightest moments than darkest ones, reflecting how Rita has been joyfully working hard these years to still keep her name up there, and the fulfilment of working on a honest and pure body of work. Phoenix sounds like a stimulating explosion of joy, and imposes itself as one of the best pop release of the year.
