Ultimately, it’s his own, most career-defining work to date. ... The record progresses--in every sense of the word---he allows himself to become more vulnerable, more considerate.

Astroworld shows the evolution of Travis Scott as an artist and is his most refined, imaginative, and rage-worthy project yet.

Travis manages to create a substantial body of work that begs to be served as a whole, rather than just bite-sized pieces.

Malone is an unmistakable presence on his songs, his otherworldly croon an essential element to his genre-hopping sound. Despite the considerable leaps in quality taken on Astroworld, it still doesn’t feel like Scott can muster that level of individuality.

The music might take your breath away, if the worst of the lyrics don’t make you roll your eyes. He’s very good at what he’s good at, but he’s not what you’d call well-rounded. Still, not everyone who has something to say, says it in words.

It is his most fully realized album, but also the one that most strikingly situates Scott as secondary to his collaborators. ... For all the interesting things that can be found on Astroworld, it is still way too long and can sound so uniform that it loses your attention.

There's nothing to really get mad at, but there's not much to get excited about either. Scott is just "aight."

It's futuristic, psychedelic, experimental at times, and representative of Travis Scott when he's ultra focused on detail. It's everything good about Travis in 58 minutes. The production is an incredible 10 and it's the best production I've heard on a rap album this year since Daytona. The lyricism is where Travis has always lacked and there are times on this album where his lyricism is boring and repetitive especially with his signature auto tune. He gets a 7.5 in this department because his songwriting skills have shown huge growth from his previous projects. Just look at a song like "Wonderful" from BITTSM and compare it to "Wake Up." Both feature nice production and guest vocals from the Weeknd but can anyone actually tell me what "Wonderful" is about? Travis has been the type of artist to trade lyricism in for an atmospheric feeling for the listener but his growth in songwriting served him well here and I expect him to grow even more as he ages. Overall, this album is an 87 in my opinion as it stands out far from disappointing albums such as Ye and Scorpion. This is La Flame's best album to date by far and it's everything that his fan base deserves and more. Expand

I did not like this album. All the tracks are boring and sound the same. There was way too much hype for this.
