Overall, if you’re looking for a solid experience that keeps going and motivates you to keep going through rewards and short missions, then you’ll enjoy Defiance 2050. It’s a solid title that does what is advertised. Just excuse those last generation cutscenes.

As it stands right now Defiance 2050 falls short, destined to again become an afterthought.

Defiance 2050 has all the markings that you would expect to find in a game of this type. There’s an interesting story to soak up, heaps of weaponry and enemy variations to enjoy, a large sprawling map to traverse, and decent gameplay mechanics. The drawback, however, is that it looks very dated and comes with far too many technical issues. If this truly wants to survive, the game’s performance needs to be much better.

For free, Defiance 2050 is ok, there is fun if you can overlook the bugs, and the story is a good one, albeit identical to the game I played half a decade ago. However broken shooting mechanics, poor graphics and not enough love put into the detail conspire to rob what fun there is.

As far as I am concerned, this really is a early look at what Fallout 76 could be. But i can note how the easy-ness of the game kills in it many ways (eg spawn vehicle anywhere, self revive and the fact you spawn where you die and you don't lose anything.) In fairness, this is a game for those who - 1. Like the Defiance show and 2. Like online games/are impatient to play Fallout 76. Expand

Servers are laggy and I have been booted a handful of times. With that being said, I like this game. I'm usually a single player RPG guy and this type of MMO is not my style. I like the story and I like the gameplay. Plain and simple, it's fun. If they can solidify the servers, I'd give it an 8. Expand

    Defiance 2050
    decently enjoyable busy work
Defiance 2050 is a free to play 3rd person shooter open world mmo co op game, you start creating your ark hunter though your choice are limited, and next thing you know you’ve crash landed and you run around a giant map completing quests… this is the game, there is story here though not a very interesting story..
This is really just a 3rd person free to play borderlands meets destiny meets an indie budget.. theres a notticable lack of polish in this game overall… its unstable, it will get shakey at times, I ran into pelnt of mission bugs, my character was frozen into annimations.. a few server issues, but I can look past all of this and see this game for what it is, and that is a bunch of busy work…
I cant imagine this is a game youre going to really sit down and be glued to for more than a few days, but I can see this game as filler in between waiting for other games, something to do while youre bored… hop in, kill some enemies with friends, clear some missions…
because despite the lack of polish or interesting story, or even interesting world to explore, this game still managaes to have an addictive hook, the shooting is fun, theres loot to be found and earned from completing missions and off of random enemies, I just genuinely had fun running around the giant open world and just completing what was ever thrown at me even though again none of it is interesting..
I cant quite put my finger one why..
maybe it is because the world feels alive thanks to it being shared.. where you going to a mission doesn’t disconnect you from everyone and loads you in.. no… if you go to a mission area and someone is already there trying to complet it themselves.. you now are co op partners completing it together, youre able to revive, but if you die you aren’t punished by losing progress, you can hop back in,
Each class that’s choses at the start does have its own special abilitites on a cool down, and more abilities and perks can be unlocked as you level up, theres also competitive modes here, team deathmatch and domination.. but the maps are awful.. and the balance of the health, shields, weapons, and abilities just don’t translate well here.. its not fun at all
so I didn’t stick around playing with competitive…
Defiance 2050 is again a free to play game so theres nothing to lose in checking I out,
I got my fill of the game after 2 days
but it surprised me, it may surprise you as well
    I give Defiance 2050
    a 6/10

Thankfully during the hours I’ve placed into Defiance 2050 that doesn’t seem to be a problem here and on the whole it seems to be fair to people who haven’t purchased anything. That being said Defiance 2050 is far from perfect and even though the game provides you with quite a few enjoyable moments the game’s glaring problems are never too far behind. As I said the game does have some enjoyable moments and it does get a few things right and one of the surprising things it does get right is the story. I found the story to be a very interesting affair and the best thing is that it remained this way throughout my time with the game. Despite the game’s very good story it will take you a while to get used to what’s going on but I can only see this being a problem if you’ve never experienced anything to do with Defiance before. Without a doubt the best way to enjoy this game is when you’re playing the game in its unique co-op setting. Wading through the vast amount of content playing in co-op is not only fun but it also stops the game from becoming repetetive because when played on your own you end up realising that some of the missions you undertake lack in terms of variety. That being said I hardly found myself getting bored traversing the game’s huge map even when playing alone because there’s always something for you to do or find, which is always good. Unfortunately whilst traversing the game’s map is fun and rewarding here’s where you’ll find the game’s biggest problems. Technichally the game suffers with an array of issues and whilst most of them are small issues when they combine together they do end up harming the immersion levels quite a bit. This is a shame as well because in terms of the controls and shooting elements the game holds up really well, but this is quickly forgotten because the game just suffers with too many issues. Another gripe I had with the game came in the form of the presentation side of things. Both the visuals and sound design are extremely dated and on the whole everything lacks polish here which means nothing stands out in both the visuals and sound design. At the end of the day if the developers sort out the game’s glaring problems then I can see this being a game I return to time and time again because the foundations have been done pretty well. As it stands at the moment though the game just has too many issues and the enjoyable moments quickly get lost so I can’t really recommend the game fully just yet. Expand

Founders(paid to play early) were locked out while the free players could login and play. When they finally fixed(48hrs later) and founders could get in you were met with constant crashes, severe frame drops, lag, & a ton of bugs(like missions not being able to be completed).
