An immense open world in 3D, full of magic, monsters, a magnificent BSO, a complex battle system and a perfectly adapted control in Nintendo Switch make Tanzia a must-have title in our catalogue if we are looking for something different to invest our time in.

In looking at Tanzia as a whole, there’s no question that this game is a labor of love for the two principal developers, a fact most evident during the closing credits. It’s also a game that left this reviewer wishing there was more: more spells, more potions, more places to explore, and more plotline, both in terms of the characters already introduced and the wider world of the game. The endgame does hint that there may be more to come, but for now this appears to be it. Still, what is there now is a lot of fun, and if you’re looking for 10 or so hours of RPG goodness you could do a lot worse. Worth a look.

Tanzia's disparate parts are held together with the chewed gum of love put into the project which manages to do just enough to keep it all from falling apart.

Tanzia is a fine game for people looking for a light action-RPG that engages the player with its simplicity. The story beats are interesting but the combat, music, and quest design are largely uninspired. In so many words, Tanzia could use a little more time in the alchemy cauldron.

There’s a lot to like about Tanzia. It’s an indie game that’s set its ambitions high, boasting DNA from action-RPGs, 3D platformers and more. It’s very much a throwback to a time when those genres were very different beasts, but it's a love letter riddled with many of the problems modern iterations have shed. However, if you can look past the fact it often looks and plays like an HD remaster, you’ll find some creative monster designs and a fantastical world bursting with heartfelt charm.

It's pretty in a generic manner, and has enough content that it will satisfy people that don't much care for creativity. But there is a point where a homage becomes a flat-out copy, and sadly, Tanzia simply doesn't seem to care that it's so brazen in its "influences."

The gameplay reminds me of my old pc games (remember when WOW first came out), it's a fluid and smooth version of the early 2000's WOW. The gameplay is hard but rewarding. The spells, attack and mechanics take some timing and utilization with intent. You have to play smart. This game is not your typical game. For me there really wasn't a downfall. Only negative is this game was out already.

and buy potions spells and more you can equip these in a tab for fast fun combat its
what really made the game more fluid combat wise IMO
its not overpriced and has as much fun elements to the game when I compare it to Zelda in fact a lot of the Quests are just as wacky and its has just as much charm its like an old school RPG
the open world is interesting enough and the activities/Quests are well though out and done
Graphics are nice enough and the enemies and backdrops are very nice it runs so damn smooth too on the switch as well and is a blast to play
potions power ups and spells are numerous you can turn into a bear run super fast be immune
to damage and invisible...the games just so much fun
enemies are well designed easy and pathetic to damn right vicious and unrelenting
this game IMO is worthy of being in anyone's collection and has enough content to keep you
entertained its also easy for kids to get into and will keep them busy so ...not bad at all

It takes everything you liked about games from theTanzia in one word is “Nostalgic” I mean this is the most respectful and positive way. It takes everything you liked about games from the Golden Age of gaming (PS2, Xbox, Dreamcast) and packages in an updated user experience. The love and attention the dev team has given the world is apparent form the first minutes in when you start to learn your skills. I never played WOW, but I can imagine this is what it might have felt like in the beginning, if WOW was single player. The quests are fun, the world is surprisingly open and full of wonders. The combat is a cross between action and MMO, which I feel the devs delivered on in spades. I never got bored wielding my spells. Killing hordes of enemies still feels satisfying after 5 hours and the gameplay delivers on the challenge one would expect when it you vs the world. The story is solid and makes you feel like you’re on this epic Hero’s Journey. All I can say this is one of the most enjoyable games I have played on my switch and I cannot wait to see how they update this title! Expand

Imagine my surprise when I see this at the top of the user charts, go and buy it, then find myself playing a game devoid of character or discernible polish. This game was a let down, I created an account just so I could attempt to regulate the ratings for this game. I honestly think it should be a 3, but in order to counter the 9.1 I saw earlier I had to rate it a zero. Expand
