It’s been difficult to find anything negative in this downloadable content that Nintendo has created. With a perfect technical performance, and a musical quality at the level of the best Nintendo games, the Inkling world grows and becomes more mature and interesting than it already was.

This may be an expansion for a game that is essentially a multiplayer experience, but the solo campaign is the real attraction in Octo Expansion. If you couldn’t get into the multiplayer, give this a try.

Octo is an excellent expansion, even better than the original game campaign if you are looking for a really stiff challenge.

Overall, Octo Expansion is an absolute steal. At $20, you’re getting a very creative and engaging campaign that expands the world of Splatoon 2 with diverse gameplay, although a small portion of these levels feels like monotonous filler. Luckily, the ability to skip them mitigates this issue, but does little to assuage the fact that the majority of the bosses are rehashes.

While the fact that it's a modular design could be equated with laziness for some, Nintendo deserves credit for producing something robust and unforgiving that will test even the most dedicated of fans.

The Octo Expansion is a substantial DLC focused on single player campaign with great level design. Although the Autopass button is bad for players keeping passion to challenge, the DLC still successfully keeps Splatoon 2 fresh.

It's still a good time to play Splatoon, especially if you're up for a solo intermission and keep your expectations in check.

With amazing music and difficult challenges, this DLC makes Splatoon 2 easily one of the best games on the Switch, or even the best. Absolutely worth those 20 dollars. Innovation has always been something that Nintendo can do easily, this is a great example. How it adds more lore into the Splatoon universe, and its cutscenes make this a must-buy if you like Splatoon or want a more difficult challenge after completing the campaign. Expand

Well, let me tell you, OE is fantastic! Tough. Innovative. Deep. LONG (20-30 hours). And, some of the greatest boss sequences ever created for the series (the 7 Phase series at the end is friggin fantastic! Very "portal-like". ) There are many levels that would make great games on their own (talking to you SQUID BILLIARDS level!)

And the prizes you get for $20, including getting to play as an Octoling in cool new sassy wardrobe is worth the price alone.

No-brainer. Buy this. (And ignore the stupid 0 score(s) below, put up by angry trolls looking for attention. Even if you do not like this game, giving it a 0 shows you have not played it, as presentation, writing, music, etc shows a lot of love was put into this game.)

Hard, but really fun and offers a lot of variety. The music is amazing and the ending is great. If you own Splatoon 2, you'd better own this, too.

My biggest problem was how easy the normal single player was and how it contributed little to the lore. This pretty much improves everything that mode had. The story is more interesting and the levels are harder, but more creative. I like how they managed to incorporate Tower Control and Rain Maker as levels. Plus If you're struggling too much on a level, you can always skip it.

Finally, I love how this expansion gave Off the Hook more character.
