Overcooked 2 is an excellent addition to the series which delivers and surpasses expectations with ease.

A delicious mix of old school multiplayer gaming and modern convenience, with a sequel that improves the original recipe in all the right ways.

Despite its few niggles, Overcooked 2 delivers everything that made the first game so great, but in a bigger, better and more appetising package.

Overcooked 2 is a chaotic, intense, and challenging multiplayer experience that is so brilliant that it offers countless hours of enjoyment that should be played by everyone.

If you enjoyed the original or skipped it purely because you needed online multiplayer support, Overcooked 2 should be a no-brainer. While the sequel runs the risk of being slightly too familiar and lacks any big surprises, it's still a winning formula. Co-op gaming doesn't get much better than this.

An improvement in every aspect, Overcooked 2’s addition of ever changing kitchen experiences as well as online multiplayer options cements itself as one of the best multiplayer (especially co-op) experiences you can buy right now. Delicious.

Whereas any other series would be derided for a sequel that was merely more of the same, Overcooked 2 demonstrates the series’ strong core mechanics and delivers another stellar experience to be had with friends. There is a very clear vision here, and it works on every front.

Overcooked 2 rounds off, enhances and extends everything seen in the first installment in a masterful way, making it an essential party game for any lover of cooking and a good multiplayer experience. Despite its short duration, its online mode will make the title last much longer with the kitchen at full throttle.

Overcooked 2 has made significant progress. The kitchens are much more imaginative and dynamic, and the brand new ability to throw food makes the pace of the game faster and funnier. Besides, the online support makes it possible to play with your friends even when you are not sitting side by side.

Working together or trying to hinder each other in Overcooked! 2’s kitchen will bring out the kid in you for sure. Its busy co-op action reminds how fun it can be to fight over a video game.

Offering more of the same delicious, diabolical co-operative cooking that made 2016's Overcooked so amazing, the sequel adds new kitchens, new dishes, new chefs and a whole lot of new reasons to do that thing where you scream in frustration and laughter at the same time. With even more friendship-testing challenges and hilarious culinary cock-ups, this is a welcome second course, even if it doesn't stray very far from the original game's recipe.

If you enjoyed the first Overcooked!, Overcooked! 2 is a slightly better version of that game. The online multiplayer adds some more fun, but that’s probably not enough if you grew tired of the first game. Regardless, it's a great game.

You’re obviously missing out on a smoother framerate but you gain portability and local wireless. I had no trouble online on either console so which version you buy depends on whether you value a higher framerate or portability. In its current state, the Switch port is very good and well worth it.

Overcooked 2 serves up a great balance of hilarious chaos and strategy alongside meaningful improvements over its predecessor. The kitchens have more moving parts, the recipes are more varied, and the ability to throw ingredients fundamentally changes the arcade cooking formula. It’s still ideal when played on the couch with friends, but solo play is much improved, and online support adds versatility.

Overcooked! 2 follows the good sequels playbook perfectly: it's bigger, it has more multiplayer options, new dishes, more characters, more crazy restaurants... It's very similar to the first game and it can be seen as "more of the same", but it all dismisses when you start to play and let go with its addictive gameplay: it's fun in its purest form.

Overcooked! 2 may not feel like a fully realized sequel, feeling mostly like more of the same with just a dash of new mechanics and online gameplay, but I suspect that's enough for most fans of the original game. I'm certainly not burnt out just yet.

Overcooked 2 is something of a perfect sequel. It takes what the original did well, cleans it up, and then adds a few new elements.

We played the sequel on Nintendo Switch, and it has equal amounts of positives as negatives. We found the smaller screen presented in handheld mode made it easier to focus on tasks in single-player mode, though it did require pixel-perfect moves that meant the different between grabbing, placing and chopping or nothing at all. While players can huddle around the Switch’s screen in a pinch, couch (or online) co-op works best on a TV.

The kitchen chaos of Overcooked 2 is a must do experience for any Nintendo Switch owner (and their friends). There are some nice upgrades from the original and the gameplay, varied kitchen design and change from level to level make it a truly fun and engaging experience. The difficulty is ever present, and there are some really rewarding experiences when you finally earn that 3rd star on some of the later levels. This game is best played on the couch with friends and it should be a part of everyones Nintendo Switch owners catalogue.

Overcooked 2 much like its predecessor is a fun and chaotic experience that truly excels when played with a group. While you might argue this is just more of the same, there are enough tweaks and changes to the formula that help keep things fresh for returning players. A hard recommendation if you’re looking to operate your own kitchen, but gather some friends and you’ll be hard pressed finding a more exciting co-operative time on Switch.

Overcooked 2 is better than its predecessor in every way possible. there is more variety to its levels and gameplay, and it remains a very fun experience to had with friends.

New players to the series will enjoy this on its own and since online is now available, this opens up multiplayer play to just about everyone whether you have friends next to you or not. Whichever way you play, this is a fun and frantic experience that everyone deserves to enjoy.

Overcooked 2 is a fantastic combination of excellent music and vibrant visuals, with gameplay that is as addictive as it is dizzying. While it's not a huge leap beyond the original menu, it brings plenty to the table.

There are two types of sequels, those that take the template of the original and improve upon it beyond recognition and those that just opt for the bigger and better approach. Overcooked 2 is undeniably the latter.

Overcooked 2 undoubtedly shines in local co-op and the versus arcade modes. New recipes and obstacles provide a fresh challenge for veterans, but it remains approachable for new players with simple controls and short playtimes. The new throwing mechanic, too, adds a new dimension to both strategy and the inevitable chaos without overcomplicating things. It's a strong foundation, and with the right friends, Overcooked 2 is one of the best couch co-op games around.

Overcooked 2 is a fantastic sequel to a co-op classic, building on the gameplay ideas from before in meaningful new ways while polishing up what was already there. There is a lingering sense that this is more of the same, but it’s such a blast to play that you’ll hardly be focused on the lack of any major innovations; overall, this feels like a stronger execution of the original vision. Overcooked 2 is a game that’s full of personality and heart, and we’d recommend this one to anyone looking for a fantastic party game.

Taking the inspired recipe from Overcooked and adding several pinches of improvements across the board, Overcooked 2 is a great game to play with others - despite an imperfect online lobby system and the lack of multiplayer customisation.

A cooperative online multiplayer is always good, as is the improved art style. The game could be better, though, if its difficulty and challenge level had not been toned down so much and if some of its new features had a more positive impact on the experience but overall, those who did not play the original will find good reasons to have fun with Overcooked! 2.

If you were a fan of the first Overcooked, I can guarantee you'll find something to love here. With more characters, levels, gimmicks (even if some are on the annoying side), and recipes to dive into (for some reason, Overcooked 2 is really into sushi and dim sum), Overcooked 2 will likely replace the original game in your party game rotation. Just be prepared for a couple of headaches along the way, and some wrecked friendships in your wake.

There's little here that truly improves the Overcooked recipe, an din that regard, only those with extra large appetites for this particular brand of couch co-op need apply. [Nov 2018, p.122]

The continued issues with online play (least on Nintendo’s platform) as well as Ghost Town’s wilful dismissing of a properly-adapted single-player alternative will only go to dwindle the potential audience once more. An audience whom might not see much significant change from what is still essentially an unaltered recipe from previous, but will still find immense joy in partaking in when part of a group. Which is a shame, given how well-realized Overcooked 2‘s core, emergent style of play truly is.

Online or off, Overcooked 2 is still some of the most accessible and over-the-top cooperative fun you can have gaming with a group of friends. The structured chaos is perfectly designed to generate the kind of laughing and screaming that makes for memorable moments.

While not the most ambitious sequel, Overcooked 2 still ranks among the best couch co-op has to offer. [Recommended]

So there are 3 modes in theThe 1st overcooked is one of the most fun i've ever had with a multiplayer game but the 2nd one is even better. So there are 3 modes in the sequeal story arcade and versus. story mode just gives you the levels in order and introduces you to things over time. With several new kitchens and elements added it definitely keeps you on your toes trying to go for a high score. Some of the new recipies inculde sushi, sushimi cakes, burritos, pancakes, steamed dumplings and more. Arcade mode has everyone working together online on random levels trying to get the highest scores. This mode can really be challenging as you all thrown in to some of the hardest levels in the game at times and requires everyone to have a understanding of what is going on without voice chat it can be hard to communicate with other players but the addition of emotes do help a bit. It does add some funny moments and more stagerty to the game though. Verus mode again put yous online in random stages but this time working with 2 chefs in either team. 2/2 online players is the best fun for this mode but Unfortunately this means if one of your guys quit you can be instantly at a disadvantage or sometimes unable to complete the level at all. At one point i was matched up 2 on 1 with me being the 1 meaning i had to juggle to chefs on my own swapping between the 2 so i just quit and hoped back into the lobby. Load times can be annnoying at times though. There are also a lot of chefs in this game 2 choose from with a lot of variety so they should be one that everyone likes. Overall this game is amazing Its a must buy for fans of the original and for anyone looking for a fun multiplayer game to play with friends or maybe even online with strangers. The only thing is if you live in Australia buy the game on the eshop as its $38.50Au compared to $60Au retail and that extra $20 is 2 much of a cost to justify it Full Review »

The most important new feature of Overcooked 2 in my mind is online play, meaning that I can play with my friends and family overseas.
The whole game design is so pretty and so functional and levels are really fun to play. In an interview, the creators have stated that the original game design was honed during years of presentation at game conferences with loads of feedback incorporated. What we have in Overcooked 2 is a clear result of this extensive process - game that is fun to play, perfectly challenging and great for cooperative play.
Having played the first game on PC, I'd also add that this Nintendo Switch version of Overcooked 2 runs smoothly and flawlessly and is perfect for a platform so well suited to on-the-fly multiplayer and coop games.
Well done devs, can't wait for more!
