The Switch version performs identically to the PS4 and Xbox One versions, running smooth as silk, sharp as ever and with no input lag when playing with Joy-Cons, the Pro Controller, in docked or in handheld mode. Surprisingly, online battles (no Nintendo Online subscription needed) work flawlessly, absent of even a hint of lag or stutter. And even at odd hours (yeah, I was playing at 4am, what of it?), I never had any issue finding an opponent to battle against. Dragon Ball FighterZ is a AAA port of a AAA game, and the Switch version is definitely the one to get.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is fantastically animated and one of the more interesting fighting games that I've ever come across. It's an epic game to play by yourself or head-to-head with some friends.

One of the best fighting games arrives on Switch. The only problem was the server, with only a few players populating the online modes.

A surprising example of the technical capabilities of the Switch. It's almost identical to the previous versions, which means lots of great fighting moments, saiyan style.

Dragon Ball FighterZ remains a winner on Nintendo Switch. The game plays fantastically and is fun for both the fighting novice learning the ins and outs and the expert. From casual options that you play with a Joy-Con to online ranked modes that run without too much lag, this title has everything you want out of a fighting game. 24 iconic characters bring a fun variety of moves to the table that thrilled me every time I played.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is both an excellent fighter and an amazing Dragon Ball game. It's easy to pick up, but hard to master. The port to Nintendo Switch has been highly successful and it's great that anyone can now play this game on the go.

Incredible, silky smooth fighting action paired with some incredible visuals makes this easily one of the best looking games on Switch, and quite possibly the best looking fighting game to ever grace a handheld.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is the most faithful title of the original work of Akira Toriyama to date and its playability is very representative, with frenetic and funny combats. If you are a fan of fighting games and you like Dragon Ball, you will love this title.

It is a complete success on a pure technical level in terms of performance on the hybrid console but the user experience could have been slightly better thought out when it comes to the implementation of the always-online functionality. Finally, the lack of more fighters to choose from, with much of the roster relegated to being paid DLC, will leave people with an impression that the publisher felt a bit too greedy.

Even if it’s not as visually astonishing as its PC and PS4/One counterparts, Dragon Ball FighterZ on Switch is still an amazing fighting game, which is at its best if you’re using the proper controler, such as « not the Joycons ».

The conversion of Dragon Ball FighterZ on Switch retains the strengths seen on other platforms, offering a high-class fighting game also on the Nintendo console.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is one of those rare brawler’s where the simplicity doesn’t get in the way of depth. There’s a lot of possible mind games to play out with plenty of drama and upsets to keep the action incredibly addictive. Kakarot and the gang may be late to the Nintendo Switch party, but the wait was well worth it in the end.

Dragon Ball FighterZ on the Switch is, simply put, the best fighting game we've seen on the system yet. Arc System Works went the extra mile in capturing the essence of the source material and distilled it into an incredible brawler that has lost nothing in the transition to Nintendo's hybrid console. The stunning visuals, intense action and easy-to-master controls make FighterZ a game all fans of the genre should have in their library. If you only play this kind of game casually, it remains a must-own.

A masterful port, worthy of one of the best fighting games around, and able to surpass our expectations. Our only criticism? having the season one characters for free would have been a great choice on Namco and Arc System's side.

FighterZ is complex and distinct enough to be enjoyed by fighting game competitors, but there's no question that it's been designed to tap into the hearts of Dragon Ball's most dedicated fans, and no doubt those same qualities will win people over who've never given the series a chance.

FighterZ is an incredible game, and this version is as good as the others. It’s a shame the Joy-Con is not great for this type of game, because other than that, being able to play FighterZ anywhere is like a dream come true.

In general, the Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Ball FighterZ comes very, very polished and offers everything that PS4 and Xbox One players could enjoy before. It is a pity that we had to wait 8 months to try it and we missed that it had arrived with some exclusive extras to alleviate this delay.

This is the long sought-after bridge that links fans of the anime with hardcore virtual pugilists, and it deserves to serve as the template for all future Dragon Ball fighting games. [Issue #36 – November/December 2018, p. 88]

Dragon Ball FighterZ is an incredibly fun fighter for both beginners and veterans. Its utterly gorgeous visuals truly capture the look and feel of the Dragon Ball anime, and its streamlined mechanics make for a remarkable gameplay experience. The tutorial leaves a lot to be desired, and the difficulty curve in the story mode is a bit too flat, but if you can get past that, this is the perfect game for fans of both Dragon Ball and the fighter genre.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is an excellent port to an already incredible game. Unfortunately, we might need to track down the Dragon Balls to resurrect the already dwindling online community.

Without a doubt, the best DB FighterZ game on console, but you have to pay twice to have all season pass bonuses from PS4 and Xbox One games, and that's a shame.

Despite a handful of issues that have arisen with the port to Nintendo’s console, Dragon Ball FighterZ remains one of the best of the current fighting games. It’s certainly one of the most fun, is amazing to watch and is far and away the best, most perfect use of the Dragon Ball license.

If you’re a Switch owner, you probably put a pretty hefty premium on portability. And honestly, the game’s performance is otherwise exemplary. For me, the load times and the game’s performance make this a good experience in short doses. If you want epic, fast-paced combat in a portable package, definitely give Dragon Ball FighterZ a chance.
