An incredibly complete package and is among the best sport sims you can play currently.

A stunning return to form for the annual football franchise – and one of the finest all-round Madden packages in years.

This year’s mastery of the Frostbite engine offers an impressive visual experience with players represented close to reality. Visually and audibly its a success. At the same time, improvements in important game modes, Franchise and Ultimate Team, guarantee weeks of fun that will be driven by the start of the regular season and endless interaction with the community. Madden NFL 19 is a satisfying experience, one of the best entries in years. But is it like winning a game with a Hail Mary pass? Not yet, but it's close to happening.

You’re right to be sceptical of EA Sports’ buzzwords by now, but Madden NFL 19’s headline Real Player Motion really does result in a more fluid game of football. The presentation may be familiar, but the game feels great on the field, and that consequently enhances all of its headline modes. Longshot: Homecoming may be short, but Tiburon’s teen drama is well-presented and well written, while Franchise mode includes some oft-requested features, like draft classes. Ultimate Team, meanwhile, continues to be a grind – but it’s an addictive one that’s made all the more compulsive by the roster of gameplay improvements made elsewhere.

While the new foundational changes are awesome and it’s more fun than ever to play Madden, it almost feels like it isn’t enough in comparison. It especially stings that the Longshot sequel feels so unsure of itself, despite its high production values. It’s easy enough to recommend Madden 19 to sports fans, but if I’m trying to get someone new started, it feels like last year’s game is required reading to get the most out of this year’s entry.

Another step forward, even if it isn't exactly a big one. Real Player Motion and a couple of other subtle improvements ultimately outweigh the dragging Longshot mode and some strange happenings on and off the pitch.

The attention paid to solo players in MUT and some Franchise improvements are certainly noticeable and deserve credit. However, when the game is littered with a multitude of glitches, a weak story mode and no other big notable changes, it makes Madden’s price tag more difficult to justify.

Haters are already hating, but that always happens. The addition of the following positions with their own unique ratings has really improved the experience: power halfback, slot wide receiver, rush left end, rush right end, rush defensive tackle, sub package linebacker and one or two others that I can’t think of at the moment. The graphics and player animations are completely overhauled. Strategy is upgraded. If you like football, and you aren’t a negative Nancy, buy this game. Expand

This game I just have to say "Huh?".

After so many years of iteration this thing should be next to perfect.
If you are going to profit to the 800 of million through micro-transactions alone (not including the purchase price) you should have a damn awesome, tuned products.

The features are being taken out. The replay system is broken.

Why isn't there a player look customization tool with facial features, body type, etc?
Why isn't there a team customization?
Why isn't there a management game?
    It just crazy....

They do this because the millions just buy it, then throw tons of money at Ultimate Team after that. This is why having one company with the pro license is really bad. Nobody pushes the genre forward.

I think NFL needs to open the license for competition again. I think that games should either be free platforms with microtransactions, or pay one price and play with all features. No mixing the two.

The NFL games, and EA sports gaming in general are getting worse the longer they go on with exclusive rights. They make hit games by buying the licenses. The sitting on them and adding Ultimate team microtransactions. They are hit games because they are the only choice for the given sport. (At least FIFA has PES to compete with. But look at PGA, it got tons of competition and then EA gave up. Look at basketball, NBA2k is now the dominant franchise. It is possible to compete with them, so much so that when someone else innovates EA crumbles.)

I would like to see NFL19 sell 20-30% less and have EA actually have to really dig and make a great game again to draw players. Or for the NFL to allow multiple publishers make competing games.
Then we'd see some great things happen.

How this game can continue to release annually is a joke. They need to focus more on other modes besides Ultimate Team. If they don't want to change the game then it should be free with how bad the microtransactions are in this. Long Shot is boring and more of a bad movie than game. Connected Careers is awful and has not changed in years. Customization is very lackluster in this game as well. I haven't even mentioned the gameplay which also has not changed. Players still look bad when moving and the tackling is just not good. Players falling all over each other It plays and look clunky, but unfortunately its the only NFL licensed game. So I assume until EA gets some competition the game will be a disaster. Expand
