Despite some very annoying bugs that absolutely need to be addressed, the game is both a wonderful online experience and an underrated solo adventure if you enjoy the exploration aspect of games such as No Man’s Sky.

Fallout 76 is a blast to play. It's easily my favorite Fallout title to date. Fallout 76 has it's fair share of problems but they don't make the game unplayable. Fallout 76 isn't for everyone but for those who stick with it will definitely find what it has to offer.

Fallout 76 is basically Fallout 4. That’s the reality. It shares many of the same strengths and many of the same flaws, but the addition of online play and a new map offers a fresh spin on the franchise. Players who regularly roll with a group of friends, or adore the Fallout franchise, are likely to find a place in this wasteland. We’re not sure everyone else will see the appeal, however — or if Fallout 76 will keep players coming back once the launch luster fades.

The rich wasteland map of Fallout 76 is wasted on a mess of bugs, conflicting ideas, and monotony.

Fallout 76 tried to take the series in a new direction, and while Bethesda has done great things with the franchise in the past, this ultimately feels like a misstep. Fallout has always excelled as a single player experience, so hopefully we can see a proper Fallout 5 in the near future.

Maybe they can turn this game around. Maybe they can fix the bugs, add some actual life into the world, and make it to where playing with friends is more than just a co-op buddy. They did a lot for Elder Scrolls Online, maybe they can do it here, but I’ll be the first to tell you to wait until that happens before taking these country roads home.

The most positive thing I can say about Fallout 76 is that a train wreck of this magnitude might finally yank Bethesda – a company that gets away with too much – back to reality. Maybe it’s finally time to update that engine. Maybe it’s not a good idea to slap the Fallout name onto a game that isn’t fit for release and expect it to go over well.

The world is rich and huge, challenging enemies, smart AI, and a sense of realistic survivability. The perk card system is a great twist on the previous perk system. The gun modification system has been greatly improved and is more rewarding. The CAMP feature is fun, creative, and relaxing. The story and quests are actually clever thought out and more indepth than what one would think at first look. And the community is friendly, helpfull, and overall what a good community should be like. Theres room for imporvements of course, but all games have that. If it isn't it right now, the game surely will be a huge success after a few updates. Defeiently a hit. Expand

The addition of multiplayer is very much welcome, i have had little to no issues with servers except for right when the game launched and had a 10 minute wait to get into the game. The framerates are actually good now with the launch patch. I thoroughly enjoy the lore being learned via holotapes. it reminds me of Dark souls in the sense that there aren't really other people out there. The isolation provided by no NPCs adds to the eerie feeling of the game. No friendly faces to wish you luck on your quest, no nice guy telling you exactly where to go and what to expect. There are bugs in the game but that is absolutely to be expected in an open world Bethesda game, and the differences between the beta and now are immense as far as my experience has gone. If you love open world small scale mulit-player, i highly recommend it, even if you weren't a fan of the other fallout games like myself. Expand

I had to create an Account for this.
Looking through the good reviews, i noticed that almost every single one of them was made by an account with only that one review, which gives me the impression that most of those are probably bought.
I usually only lurk around here, looking up some reviews if i'm on the fence about something. So if you are here because you are on the fence about this game: DON'T BUY IT.
It is a lazy cashgrab. Don't pay 60 bucks to run around in an empty void. I feel bad for the Designers, that obviously put some thought and effort into the worldbuilding and trying to make something off this ancient engine. In vain, sadly, since the Bethesda was probably like "nono, don't worry, just do whatever, no effort, everyone is gonna buy it based off the name alone"
But the audacity this company has, to charge 60 bucks AND include laughable high Microtransactions is way beyond me.

It runs very badly on the PS4 too. I don't own a PS4 Pro, but i guess it runs a bit better there. It's very laggy, sounds pop in and out randomly, so do textures, when they don't decide to have a flashy rave.

I didn't expect much, and i still was utterly disappointed. I liked the previous entries, especially Fallout New Vegas and after keeping track of Beta Reviews, i thought i could expect some mindless, grindy, braindead fun. But all i got was a broken game and feeling ashamed of myself for giving Bethesda my money.
So don't be like me, spend your money on something else, just not this insulting abomination.

Why, Bethesda? Never have I seen a game mishandled so bad. It’s as if this game was about 60% finished and then rushed it out the door. ThisWhy, Bethesda? Never have I seen a game mishandled so bad. It’s as if this game was about 60% finished and then rushed it out the door. This is the last product I will ever buy from Bethesda until they have proven that they care about making polished, non scam games again. Absolutely pathetic. Do not waste your money on this, stay far away. Buy Red Dead 2 instead, a game that was crafted with care, and well worth the $60 price tag. Fallout 76 should be a free to play game, it certainly feels like one with its horribly expensive store. I wish just this once I could rate a game with a negative score, because it’s sitting at about a -2 for me. Would rather play with a deck of cards. Expand

I've given it a couple of days and tried to give it a fair shot but this game is a hot mess. The no NPC angle might have sounded interesting but its produced a game world that feels empty. A hallmark of the Fallout series IS the interaction with the various inhabitants of the wasteland and the moral decisions that come from those interactions. You've essentially gutted the core from the Fallout experience! It hoinestly feels like the decision to remove any NPCs was made out of pure laziness or an effort to cut development costs down to the ground. I got a squad together to try the multiplayer aspect out and its nice to play together but the game itself just feels boring! If you enjoyed aspects of the game like crafting, thats been gutted too. Fallout 4 had an amazing system that allowed you to customize weapons to make unique pieces that could be adapted to your play style, thats all gone now. I could go on and on about how terrible this game is but I honestly hope that they find someway to fix this train wreck. Whatever Bathesda's intentions were with this game, it comes across as an insult to players that have supported their games for years. Honest review folks, watch some of the gameplay videos and see if ti interests you but beware on this one. This game has no story, no heart, and comes across as a complete cash grab by a studio that has passed it's prime. Expand
