This game has a long way to go. The graphics are good, but at the moment, like most games in it's genre, it's one sided. Killer is weak as can be, and too predictable. You completely rely on Survivors to either split up, making it possible to get some kills, or be in a group, in which case you might get one single kill if you're lucky before dying.

You completely rely on Survivors to either split up, making it possible to get some kills, or be in a group, in which case you might get one single kill if you're lucky before dying.

At which point, the Survivors can gather a ton of scrap, save their fallen comrade, and usually finish at least one objective, of which there is about 3 -5. Insta-kill spots for killers are always easy to see, and require someone completely not paying attention to be used at all.

And the use of Discord in this game? Seems completely pointless. Either you're telling the Killer what you'll be doing, or no one ever talks. As it stands, not seeing much of a point because there is no middle ground here, either 5 Survivors talk because half of them know each other, or it's a silent lobby, even when someone is being attacked by the Killer.

$30, and as it stands, this should be a hard pass, unless they actually add more into the game, and change a lot around.

This game has all the positives that Friday the 13th had but also has all the negatives.

    The Negatives:

1.) If you like having trolls chat racist, sexist garbage in your ear all game while making idiotic jokes, then this game is for you. The bugs are almost as bad as the players jokes, did I forget to mention that?

2.) It might just be me but I can't stand cartoonish graphics and this "horror" game. It's not cartoony in a good way like some other popular horror games like Limbo or Bendy. It takes away the horror aspect and just makes it a comedy game without all the existential aspects the other games have.

3.) As far as content goes, it's falling into the same patch that Friday did when they started out. This being said, if you liked Friday, you'll probably love this game with all it's obnoxious trolls making dumb and inappropriate jokes, cartoonish graphics and annoying one-liners from the characters,

    The Positives:

1.) It is new and if you're feeling burned by the recent lawsuit against Friday, this will give you something new to play. Still, with a lack of content and the game coming a little too close to mimicking Friday, I don't see much longevity for this game.

2.) You can actually hit the monsters back in this game! Unlike some other games which rely on you running around in circles countless times making the game extremely repetitive.

3.) If they do stick with their original plan and actually follow through, it could be a viable switch for people who previously loved Friday. It won't attract a lot of DBD fans though with it's cartoony game play and chatting with random obnoxious trolls online.

In conclusion, this game is not a competitor to DBD, it's a replacement for what people lost out with Friday due to the lawsuit.

What stands out as positive? The hype and misinformation created by the developers and publishers.

I had high hopes for "Last Year The Nightmare." It had been in development for quite a while with a long drought of any real information, then comes the PAX and the Beta. I merrily played the Beta and was interested but not sold. It's just a beta though, right?

Then came release. A lot of the bugs and issues from Beta were not fixed. The balance of the game, while I realize multiplayer games can never be properly balanced, is still sorely out of the realm of fun.

Having to use a workaround to get Push to Talk to work isn't something that should be on the player. And even with the workaround the game is still sonic chaos with people talking over each other and trying very poorly to be funny. Or as I have found out, racist and sexist openly because they have a microphone and internet.

The lack of new content and objectives is truly damaging though. I can get over some bugs, lackluster graphics, and having to fix their own game to get PTT, but without content being pushed out this game is already going to be dead in water. They have a nice roadmap planned out, but so did Friday the 13th: The Game. Last Year:The Nightmare is following the same path as F13. Lack of variety in maps and objectives is going to drain the playerbase and any fun out of this game before it can take off.

At present this game is a 2/10, maybe a 3/10 at best. Stick together, beat on the killer while making bad jokes, and enjoy the game while the playerbase lasts.

This is another Friday the 13th, not a Dead By Daylight killer by any stretch of the imagination.

This is a solid game if you are a fan of asymmetrical horror. There are some definite bugs to be fixed at launch as well as some much needed balance patches, however as a whole I give the game a buy. It's already better than similar games and is on par with dead by daylight which had a considerable head start.

Last Year: The Nightmare is one of those games that has a lot of replay value. Sure there's not much since it just came out, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game like some people think. This game was obviously meant for fans of slasher horror flicks, so if you're not a fan of the horror genre, then this game is not for you. this game isn't worth for $29.
but yes , you can play as small game, not anymore just like app games.
this game has neither big conntennts nor interesting background story.
there are only a theree school maps getting quickly bored.
only you can have fun because of multiplay that will be dead sooner or later.

    $8 is the rightful Price!

The core gameplay offers moments of undeniable excitement, but without more depth, variety, and some sense of progression, Last Year won’t survive long against the competition.

Last Year: The Nightmare is off to a great start. It's a fun team-based horror title that is addictive to play and you can get lost in for hours, whether as the killer or the potential victims. My only real complaint with the game is that three levels is a bit on the slim side, but to their credit the maps are fantastic and exciting to play across the board.

Last Year: The Nightmare is a five vs one team-based jaunt through a decimated high school playing tag with a serial killer that entertainingly evokes the feel of popular horror B-movies.
