Last Year: The Nightmare is off to a great start. It's a fun team-based horror title that is addictive to play and you can get lost in for hours, whether as the killer or the potential victims. My only real complaint with the game is that three levels is a bit on the slim side, but to their credit the maps are fantastic and exciting to play across the board.

Though I feel I’ve experienced every facet of what the game currently has to offer, I’ve enjoyed my time with Last Year: The Nightmare. It radiates the amusing aspects of teen horror films while introducing me to an excellent style of multiplayer, and I eagerly await the game’s evolution.

Last Year: The Nightmare is an admirable take on the asymmetrical survival horror genre, and despite not doing too many things outside of the box, the stellar presentation and level of detail throughout helps the game survive long enough to warrant the price of entry for fans of the genre.

An interesting way to re-conduct the style of Dead by Daylight. Powerful survivors able to win the battle if they work together. A good experience and full of strategical choices for the serial killer.

While Last Year: The Nightmare shows a lot of promise, the game simply feels shallow at the moment. The game can be really fun at times but no progression, bugs and glitches and horrific balance issues can ruin all the fun.

The core gameplay offers moments of undeniable excitement, but without more depth, variety, and some sense of progression, Last Year won’t survive long against the competition.

Last Year: The Nightmare shows a good potential, but is desperately needs additional content.

There are some definite bugs to be fixed at launch as well as some much needed balance patches, however as a whole I give the game a buy. It's already better than similar games and is on par with dead by daylight which had a considerable head start. Expand

Sure there's not much since it just came out, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game like some people think. This game was obviously meant for fans of slasher horror flicks, so if you're not a fan of the horror genre, then this game is not for you. It is also an intense game, but once you get the feel of it, you're good to go. Expand

The graphics are good, but at the moment, like most games in it's genre, it's one sided. Killer is weak as can be, and too predictable. You completely rely on Survivors to either split up, making it possible to get some kills, or be in a group, in which case you might get one single kill if you're lucky before dying.

At which point, the Survivors can gather a ton of scrap, save their fallen comrade, and usually finish at least one objective, of which there is about 3 -5. Insta-kill spots for killers are always easy to see, and require someone completely not paying attention to be used at all.

And the use of Discord in this game? Seems completely pointless. Either you're telling the Killer what you'll be doing, or no one ever talks. As it stands, not seeing much of a point because there is no middle ground here, either 5 Survivors talk because half of them know each other, or it's a silent lobby, even when someone is being attacked by the Killer.

$30, and as it stands, this should be a hard pass, unless they actually add more into the game, and change a lot around.

this game has neither big conntennts nor interesting background story.
there are only a theree school maps getting quickly bored.
only you can have fun because of multiplay that will be dead sooner or later.

    $8 is the rightful Price!

It had been in development for quite a while with a long drought of any real information, then comes the PAX and the Beta. I merrily played the Beta and was interested but not sold. It's just a beta though, right?

Then came release. A lot of the bugs and issues from Beta were not fixed. The balance of the game, while I realize multiplayer games can never be properly balanced, is still sorely out of the realm of fun.

Having to use a workaround to get Push to Talk to work isn't something that should be on the player. And even with the workaround the game is still sonic chaos with people talking over each other and trying very poorly to be funny. Or as I have found out, racist and sexist openly because they have a microphone and internet.

The lack of new content and objectives is truly damaging though. I can get over some bugs, lackluster graphics, and having to fix their own game to get PTT, but without content being pushed out this game is already going to be dead in water. They have a nice roadmap planned out, but so did Friday the 13th: The Game. Last Year:The Nightmare is following the same path as F13. Lack of variety in maps and objectives is going to drain the playerbase and any fun out of this game before it can take off.

At present this game is a 2/10, maybe a 3/10 at best. Stick together, beat on the killer while making bad jokes, and enjoy the game while the playerbase lasts.

This is another Friday the 13th, not a Dead By Daylight killer by any stretch of the imagination.

"Dead on Discord" - There's 26 players online. Should have been on steam, it would have done well.

What stands out as positive? The hype and misinformation created by the developers and publishers.
