After the crystal is stolen by an invading nation, Niflheim, a global conflict ensues with all other nations wishing to gain it for themselves. Alongside the main protagonist, Noctis is joined by a military tactician Ignis Scienta, who can deftly handle a katana in battle, a melee fighter named Gladiolus Amicitia, gun-wielding Prompto Argentum, and head of the Royal Family Guards Cor Leonis. There's one other character that appears to get close with Noctis, even if her connection with him is still unknown. Her name is Stella Nox Fleuret, she seems to be strong and fight well with her rapier. Against this backdrop of a world at war, Noctis Lucis Caelum and his closest friends embark on an epic journey to try and get the crystal back. Expand

Final Fantasy XV may not feel like an older game from the franchise, but that doesn't mean it's bad. I grew up with the older Final Fantasy game and while XV is different, that doesn't make it a bad game in the franchise. I enjoyed my time spent in game and look forward to doing more.

This version of FFXV does deliver a much more complete experience and fixes many of the issues present in the original. It was a great adventure when it came out, and now it's better than ever.

Even with its faults, from the weird two-halves of the story to the often poorly designed and uninteresting side-quests, Final Fantasy XV feels like a triumph. Discovering a new location or seeing a giant monster for the first time, Final Fantasy XV constantly surprises. And thanks to its likeable cast of heroes, provides as memorable an animated adventure of a boy band in a world filled with monsters could possibly be.

All in all, Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition is the best console-to-pc port that Square Enix has produced to date. On top of that, the Royal Edition is the best version of Final Fantasy XV – so far, and even if only just. The route taken to get here has been a bumpy one, needlessly long with and perhaps without the most efficient direction, but the journey here has left us at a better place than we were at starting out.

Final Fantasy XV’s beautiful graphics and exciting fights unfortunately come with a confusing story, irritating characters, long and unnecessary cutscenes, and optimization issues.

Compared to the console counterparts, especially XBOX ONE, this game looks lush and fluid and actually loads fast. It's understandable that people have the issues they have with the game, but the developers have been honest and upfront with improvements and I admire that. Maybe, FFXV isn't perfect, but if you are going to play this game this is the version to go with! Expand

I've played it through twice now. I love the combat, even if it''s simplistic and honestly feels like crap with its awful camera. I want to care more about its characters, but a lot of stuff isn't put together well. Their character depth is explored in expansions that should be played in certain points in the game but are relegated to the DLC section, making it a jarring and confused experience. There's an Anime, some text scripts and a Movie, but none are bundled with the game. It's a great port, with solid compatibility and scaling. The story is broken and convoluted, but holds emotional weight. The voice acting is like a sine wave, going between serviceable to annoying and repetitive, sometimes even out of touch and inhuman, to fantastic dialogue that really show the depth of each character. The endgame is great, but there's almost no guidance to any of it. The music is amazing, but the car radio is terrible and doesn't feel like part of the world. Every good thing seems flawed with something else that had to be broken in some other way.

Now, this is the PC version I'm reviewing, and I'm sorry to the season pass holders on console who didn't get the royal edition for free. I think they should've. I'm also writing this after PAX. I now know there are 4 more expansions and comrades will be a standalone release soon. I also know about the modding tools and level editor coming this year. until then, my review is not final, and i will update it accordingly when all the content is done and dusted.

All the sidequests are the same basically except for the behemoth one eye which every side quest should have been like. You know like witcher 3. I really got into the characters but the leveling system is so screwed you have to use the nixperience bracelet for the rest of the game 10 hours in or you will be overlevelled for the next 100 hours. It could have been so great. I really enjoy the main story, but the main story really is so short, the sidequests could have added to the whole. The side quests are mind numbing fetch/kill quests. The combat was really fun but that levelling thing sort messes with that as well. Had they just put in the time to fill out the world they made it could have been a masterpiece. I mean they could have at least done NPC quests to give flavor to each one, i know there are DLC of them but that is after the main story. After I was done I didnt want to do the DLC or even go back, you will understand if you play. IF you are really into it, do EVERY sidequest before chapter 9, story wise it makes more sense. It could have been a true masterpiece had they just crafted the game that was already there, its sad really, a waste of such potential. The music really gets you into it and sticks with you, the car cruises, if it was heading toward masterful quests which built the world up well that would have been absolutely brilliant. It could have been something never to forget, could have been. Expand
