This typical misstep aside, Anno 1800 is an otherwise excellent history-themed simulator that excels at drawing players into its satisfying gameplay loop and keeping them there.

Streamlining done right, Anno 1800 is so addictive that it must remind you to take a stroll after some four hours of gameplay. Faithful to the Anno spirit, yet inventive, featuring a class system that offers many creative challenges.

Anno 1800 offers up a compelling blend of city building and strategy in the industrial era, with a smooth learning curve and fantastically flexible and replayable sandbox mode that will have you starting and re-starting your trading empire as the hours sail by.

The foundations of Anno 1800 are solid, and the game offers a diversified experience. Going back to the roots was a crucial decision, and I can say, with all certainty: this is one of the best strategy games of 2019. It's been a long while since we had such a lovely and absorbing game to play.

Anno 1800 is an incredible looking city builder that is packed with historical detail and graphical richness, supported by a complex and sometimes inscrutable collection of systems underneath the smokestacks and row houses. Getting everything just right is a challenge but playing in the Victorian-era sandbox is a lot of fun and the milieu is well represented in all areas of design and execution. Fans of city builders and economic sims will both find a lot to enjoy about Anno 1800, the best entry in the franchise so far.

It's a really unique experience. A large part of the game is focused on exploration and it is a true ode to orientalism. A gaming pleasure combined with the visual and sound beauty. Probably the best Anno episode in the history of the series.

A vibrant snapshot of the Victorian era that’s bustling with character, but doesn’t explore the intriguing, seismic politics of the period.

I was stuck at the quest in Chapter 4 - Prosperity for All. Now is waiting for update patch to fix this issue. So far the rest is still enjoyable. I have compare Anno 1800 with Tropico 6. I will definitely choose Anno 1800 because the way we play and the game atmosphere also different. The BGM of this game is nice, also I was occupied 2 to 3 islands in the game to make all my ships to trade specific items between islands because some plants only can produce in specific islands. So I have to occupy the other islands to produce the specific items to supply my main island. Is quite fun to play but your brain need to do much in multitasking. Expand

Downloading this game is one of the worst experience we have had. First we have to download Epic Games Control which is absolutely fine and then they requires us to verify with Ubi which we don't have an account with. It took us 30 minutes just to get this game downloaded which is an extreme hassle. Worst of all, we have to sign up an account with Ubi (who the f is Ubi, why do we have to sign up with them?). This is getting absurd so we have decided this is our one and only time buying from Epic Games and Ubi (seriously, Ubi.. wake up your idea).

Ubi and Epic Games did a terrible job here.

    (Game Review)

Weekend is allocated to playing this game. We truly enjoy the music in the game very much. Gives us the classic nostalgia vibe which we crave in a game.

We have played many city building game and Anno 1800 is hands down the very top of the list. We wish we could give this game a 10/10 but because of the game clients (don't hate us, we have to take this into consideration), we have to give a mere 8. Seriously, the game clients (Epic and Ubi) screw up the entire positive experience. We wanted to go with 6-7 because of the downloading experience. At the same time, we want to be fair to the creator of the game so 8 it is.

I give it 7/10 because I know they can do better and I hope they fix the small issues there are now.

Played alot of Anno games, Anno 1800 is far the best of them. (I did not play the 2070 and 2205)
I have about 200 hours in each of the old type anno games. 115hours on Anno 1800

But it also has a few flaws I hope get patched.

-Quest bugs like game breaking once. And not one of them. (Campain mode)

-Issues with speed and how the game run, but it is far better then the older anno games.
I can now play for 10 hours without reboot and crash.

-Crashes they are just a few now then before, but they still happen but you can see and feel it comming so saving and rebooting the game fix that.
But you can have issues like I did my game auto saved and then crashed. That did something to my auto saves so I had to use a manuel save. Not a issue for me as I save often.
    CTRL+S = God

-Ship problems your ships tend to not lissten to you when you do stuff.
Example: Group of 8 sail to that island. 5 of them go 3 just stop random on the route. Same can happen to 3.

-Issues with crossing between the old world and the new world. I personaly liked the fact that anno 1404 had North and south on the same map. Less swaping and better overview.
But in Anno 1800, your ships can get stuck then trying to cross to the new world or back to the old.
And if they do not get stuck, pirate or npc will camp the zone swap area where you ships comes and goes.. on both sides.. new and old.

-Trade. In anno 1404, I do remember that if you choose a ship to load 3 diffrent types and 1 was full it never took the other spots, it just didn't take the full material.
On Anno 1800 on the other hand, when 1 stack hits full.. the ship just loads more there fore overloading and not getting diffrent types..

-Noticed issues with loading and unloading goods saying no space and out of material.
Still both are good. Deleting the trade route and remaking it then its good for a while.

-No more armies, only boats and diplomacy.
I find this abit dumb, now you take out a island and BOOM its gone..

Many of these issues are small and you can work them out, some you cannot and you need to load.
But this game is about managment and controll.. I feel very little controll. But the game looks and feel good. Best building anno until now, I love it and I rebuild my cities alot!
I hope the new content update and the DLC's will help on the issue parts.

I still love the game, but these are the things that are making me bored of it.
If the bugs and issues are fixed I give the game 10/10.
Even tho I dislike the map splitting and no armies.

And I still enjoy it to day! and the Music is 10/10 most of the time! Good work Dynamedion!

Sorry for breaking a cardinal rule here but it must be done. i have not played this game. I wanted greatly to play it but am once againSorry for breaking a cardinal rule here but it must be done. i have not played this game. I wanted greatly to play it but am once again face-to-face with the toxic corporate controlfreak culture of UbiSoft. I am directed to buy the game at the Epic/Ubisoft trap site, and there i find , once again to nobody's real surprise, that Ubisoft has inserted a profit-driven and misleading ruse to their sales campaign., namely using Steam, double-crossing Steam, and demanding that their profits increase through absolute contriol of the sales medium. To add insult to this injury , the transaction for $49.99 at Epic Games will magically not function, as if I'm supposed to believe that UbiSoft and Epic have an agreement that would allow their sales partner to have a broken sales app for two weeks, and i get miraculously redirected to UbiStore.gouge, where , lo and behold, I am invited to use their INHOUSE sales page to pay 60% more for the same item. This is nothing more than thinly and cheaply disguised bait-and-switch. , and it isn't the first time around for me and Ubisoft. Good-bye forever Ubisoft, you don't get one thin dime of the remaining $5,000 dollars I will spend on gaming over the next twenty years, because you are are nothing but sleazy resellers.. At this point, i can live without Anno 1800. I couldn't live with being your prey so buh-bye. Frowny Face Frowny Face Puke Face Angry Face Frowny Poo !!!11.

How is it that fantastic games get continually damaged by this company and they are still in business? Because YOU, the buyer, allows them to get away with it and it is YOU, the buyer, that is to blame for the stupid herd mentality that is starting to pervade the industry. Entitled North Americans, or entitled irresponsible consumers from around the world, are buying untested poor quality games and proprietary, invasive, and predatory manureware that greatly degrades the gaming experience, acting as alpha and beta testers that actually PAY the COMPANY to get absolutely ripped off.
