Luigi’s Mansion is a must play if you’ve never enjoyed it before. If you still own the GameCube version, there really isn’t enough here to warrant a new purchase unless you need the slightly updated visuals and ability to take it on the road. I personally believe this game, like it’s 2013 sequel, Dark Moon, is better suited for a home console experience – and fortunately, we’ll all be enjoying Luigi’s Mansion 3 on the Nintendo Switch when it launches in 2019.

The game is relatively short, so outside of playing for hours on end, it isn’t likely that players will be turned off by the fun of catching ghosts. It’s imperfect, but Luigi’s Mansion on 3DS remains a wonderful game. The core gameplay has lost none of its luster, and the improvements and additions implemented by Grezzo make the game more entertaining than ever.

A great new version of one of the most beloved classic Gamecube Games.
  4. Oct 12, 2018
Luigi's Mansion is one of Nintendo's most unique games and now that gamers who never played it before have the opportunity to enjoy it on-the-go and with so many cool new features, it's hard not to full-heartedly recommend this now-portable classic.
  5. Nov 21, 2018
Luigi's Mansion 3DS brings back the old classic of the GameCube for both players that never played the original and players that played it hundreds of times. That Luigi is easily scared makes him a perfect guy to play around in a ghost mansion.

Luigi’s Mansion for the Nintendo 3DS is an overall decent port of the original. The fact that Grezzo worked on it guarantees that the final product is respectful towards what the original developers made seventeen years ago. Many new additions and improvements, alongside the fact that the 3D effect is giving us the impression of a 17-year old definitive edition are more than enough for newcomers to the series to give it a shot, yet might fail veteran players who have tried everything the game could give and are expecting something entirely new.
  7. Oct 31, 2018
Luigi’s Mansion for the 3DS is a good port that is bogged down by the troublesome control limitations. It’s problematic enough that I would still recommend the GameCube title if possible for newcomers. If you’re a series veteran, this is still largely the same game, although the expanded Gallery Mode, multiplayer, and improved postgame might still prove enticing. Otherwise, the core gameplay is as solid and engaging as ever, and this remake rekindled my appreciation for Luigi’s first big outing.

    A great adaptation.
  9. Oct 30, 2018
Luigi's Mansion was pure Nintendo magic on the GameCube and it's still an entertaining gem on the 3DS, which adds some cool new features.

If you've missed out on the initial Luigi's Mansion over the years or have been wanting to replay it, the 3DS version is well worth checking out. [Issue #36 – November/December 2018, p. 78]

If you've never adventured with Mario's lankier brother throughout his haunted mansion exploits, Luigi's Mansion 3DS is absolutely worth the price of admission.
  12. Oct 25, 2018
Luigi’s Mansion was great when it first arrived, and this remake is even more polished and complete than the first. There are a lot of problems with the controls in the game, but the creative and diverse gameplay combined with a beautiful bevy of graphics make the experience worth the frustration.
  13. Oct 24, 2018
Freeing Luigi’s Mansion from the GameCube’s back catalogue, Grezzo’s remake of the game for 3DS is fantastic, going far beyond a simple port. That said, the 3DS isn’t always the best home for the ghostbusting action and the controls feel a bit too slow and awkward when it counts.
  14. Oct 22, 2018
Even with overshadowing qualities of the original sequel and the compromises you have to make in terms of visuals and control this is still an entertaining ghost hunt.
  15. Oct 22, 2018
Luigi's Mansion returns 17 years later as fun as ever, but with some new features that will delight both the players who enjoyed it in the past and the new players who did not have the opportunity to do so. And now in portable mode.
  16. Oct 21, 2018
Though it isn’t the Switch remake many had hoped for, Grezzo delivers a solid and well-polished 3DS port. While it would have been great to see the Hidden Mansion alter its content with new areas unlocked, Luigi’s Mansion remains best as a spooky near-episodic adventure, packed full of fun, with moments of humour, mischief and magic. If you enjoyed the original, there’s no way you’d miss this.

Although its release on 3DS doesn't provide much new content, Luigi's Mansion is clearly a classic. Its clever level design and fun characters certainly hold up after 17 years, even if the graphics may not. This release seems best suited for those new to the game, but it can be enjoyed by all Luigi fans.
  18. Oct 17, 2018
Some gameplay elements are outdated, and controls in Nintendo 3DS could be better, but it is still a classic, and you should try it.
  19. Oct 17, 2018
Those who still fancy the original GameCube version might not be interested if they can still readily play it, but the addition of the challenging new hidden mansion, ability to challenge bosses and local multiplayer can make it well worthwhile for those wanting to try something new. Luigi’s Mansion is still a great classic and fits in fairly well with all the other wonderful ports on 3DS.

Luigi’s Mansion proves that there’s still life in the 3DS, even as the Switch seems positioned to become its replacement. This version is so much more than a look at a title from that past. We’re getting to play a lost piece of Nintendo’s history; a game that was originally designed for 3D, but was never fully realised due to the limitations of the technology at the time. After nearly two decades, we're playing Luigi's Mansion as it was originally intended, and it is as fun now as it was when the GameCube launched.
  21. Oct 30, 2018
After all these years, Luigi's Mansion it would be an even more enjoyable game, if it wasn't for a problematic controller scheme. But still, it's an unforgettable adventure in a funny little world.
  22. Oct 17, 2018
Once again, Grezzo shows that making remakes is his thing. It may not have been as successful as in other cases, but the adaptation of the GameCube classic to 3DS is quite remarkable. Despite the failures of the control system, it's still just as fun and entertaining, even a little more than the original thanks to the additions.

3DS - It wasn't simple to bring a gamecube title to a portable console, and at the end of its life, but Luigi's Mansion on 3DS has something to tell on this generation of console. Some problems of the original game remain in the porting process, especially backtracking and clunky controls, but they don't ruin the experience with the game.
  24. Oct 29, 2018
Some technical and control issues aside, I still think the 3DS version of Luigi's Mansion is a solid option for newcomers or for people looking to revisit this GameCube classic. Catching various ghosts and completing Professor E. Gadd's gallery is a perfect time burner on the go and Grezzo have done a solid job bringing Luigi's Mansion to the 3DS. I just don't know if I'd prioritize playing the 3DS version over the GameCube version in the future.
  25. Oct 20, 2018
Luigi’s Mansion hasn’t aged particularly well, and if you’ve played its sequel it feels like a step backwards. All in all, it is a charming adventure and still quite enjoyable.
  26. Oct 17, 2018
Luigi's Mansion is a charming and scary experience that appeared originally on Nintendo Gamecube and now arrives on Nintendo 3DS with some interesting added content. Luigi and his ghosts to take away.
  27. Nov 26, 2018
Short but sweet perfectly sums up Luigi's haunted quest. Very little has changed in the transition from GameCube to 3DS, except for slightly inferior visuals and way worse controls...unless using the Circle Pad Pro. With the added benefit of the attachment, Luigi's Mansion plays exceptionally well, and is an enjoyable, if easy, romp through the spooky mansion that really kicked off Luigi's gaming career.
  28. Nov 9, 2018
While the game is still rather short and linear, its experience is fun and enjoyable, especially as Luigi gives it a whole flair of his own personality in a much welcome addition to the Nintendo heritage. Its motion controls need some improvement but this is a welcome return of one of the few games starring Nintendo's green-capped hero.
  29. Nov 1, 2018
While some parts of Luigi’s Mansion may be beginning to show their wear, by and large the game is still just as much of a quirky, experimental romp as it was 17 years ago.
  30. Nov 1, 2018
Luigi’s Mansion on 3DS is strictly a remake for people who either no longer have a copy of Luigi’s Mansion or have never played it before. To anyone who still has their original Gamecube copy, just play that; the additions are not worth $40. It’s still a great game by all accounts because the design of the game is fun and it is completely playable, but the controls in this version are just awful and with Dark Moon on the same console there’s absolutely no excuse for that.
  31. Oct 26, 2018
Luigi’s Mansion has received a decent port to the Nintendo 3DS. Nothing more, nothing less. It isn’t the Nintendo Switch port that I’m sure most of us would have preferred, but that does not deter from the fact that this is still a very good game. It’s just a very good game with the same problems as the original, mainly being the length of the main story. If you missed it back when it was first released and enjoyed the sequel, then I urge you to try this. If you already took a trip to Luigi’s Mansion on the GameCube, then I don’t see any need to revisit it on the 3DS, as you could argue that the original remains the better version.
  32. Oct 22, 2018
Luigi’s Mansion remains the classic it always was, but it’s little more than 3DS life-support.
  33. Oct 19, 2018
Luigi's Mansion is a truly wonderful game, but the 3DS was the wrong place to port it.
  34. Oct 17, 2018
Luigi’s Mansion is a game that didn’t necessarily need a remake, but I’m glad this exists. The writing and mechanics hold up and it’s still mostly a joy to play. I only wish the controls would have been refined a bit more to catch up with modern standards.
  35. Oct 12, 2018
Fifteen years after its initial release on GameCube, Luigi's Mansion comes to the 3DS with a few new features, but those can't make up for the fact that the game is too short, and offers no interest for players who have already played it. On the other hand, if you haven't played it yet, this is the version to go for.
  36. 70
Really, it is the same GameCube game with a sprinkling of flourishes here and there for the 3DS.
  37. Oct 11, 2018
Luigi's Mansion is a fun exploratory adventure game that remains pretty enjoyable despite some annoying control issues and design anachronisms. A full remake that embraced a more modern and polished battle system along with better puzzle design would have made it even better.
  38. Oct 11, 2018
Seventeen years after its first release, with one sequel out and another on its way, there's still nothing quite like Luigi's Mansion. Nintendo's strange foray into the paranormal has aged well--I was surprised at how much of it had stuck in my memory, and how good it felt being back in its haunted halls. It's a basic port with a few issues, but Luigi's Mansion still remains a charming and enjoyable game.
  39. Oct 11, 2018
This is Luigi’s Mansion, 16 years later. Nintendo adds some nice 3D effects thanks to 3DS properties, but that’s all: same game, same qualities.
  40. Oct 19, 2018
Luigi’s Mansion is a great place to visit, but while its presence is welcome in 2018 it really could have done with some modernisation.
  41. Oct 17, 2018
Luigi’s Mansion 2 was always a much better game and while there’s some novelty (and possibly nostalgia) value to playing the original it doesn’t warrant a new full price release.
  42. Oct 11, 2018
Once again, Grezzo delivers a strong port for the 3DS, even though players of the original game should not expect so many new features. With only a small co-op mode and some items from Luigi's Mansion 2, the game really aims for those who might have missed it back in 2002.
  43. Oct 11, 2018
If you really really loved the original, or feel you missed out on a bit of history not playing it at the time, then this game will have something for you. Ultimately this version of Luigi’s Mansion would be better off being left in the time capsule it was pulled out of.

It´s looks like the Critic Pages see a remake like a new game, saying this is the same blah blah blah... This is a remake no a new game, obviously it added some new features, but only because its the same, don´t means it needs a lower score. I recommend only see user-based experience when is a remake, because the critic page will give it a different rating just because is the same. This is my opinion... Full Review »

The real Luigi's Mansion game. Dark Moon is has got nothing on the far superior original.
